Richard Whiteoak



Richard has top-tier investing experience across public and private equity opportunities. Prior to founding Whiteoak in 2016, he was a senior member of the investment team at Allan Gray, a leading Australian equities manager with over $6bn under management. Richard commenced his career as a Medical Doctor and went on to work as a Management Consultant with McKinsey & Company before leading the private buyout and development of an Australian healthcare manufacturing business.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Wales and an MBA with High Distinction from the University of Oxford. He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Greg Garvin



Greg has deep experience in building, advising and transforming businesses globally. Prior to joining Whiteoak he was Executive General Manager of Strategy at Australia’s largest electricity transmission network, TransGrid, where he led the sale of the company to a consortium of investors for a record price. Greg was previously a senior Consultant with McKinsey & Company and Accenture, serving clients in Australia, the US, the UK, Japan and South Africa. He is a Director of the Energy Policy Institute of Australia, and a Trustee of the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia. 

Greg holds an AB in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from INSEAD. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Oliver Kirkland


Investment Manager

Oliver has experience advising Australia’s leading companies on making sustainable step changes in their operating and financial performance. He commenced his career as a Management Consultant at Port Jackson Partners in Sydney, where he helped clients develop corporate and business unit strategies in a range of sectors including financial services, industrials, infrastructure, agriculture, and consumer goods. Oliver joined Whiteoak in 2017 to pursue his interests in investing and helping businesses deliver their next phase of growth.

Oliver holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney, majoring in Economics and Finance.

Deepesh Banerji


Portfolio Advisor

Deepesh has spent his career transforming and growing innovative digital businesses. In addition to acting as Portfolio Advisor for Whiteoak, he is also Head of Product for Deputy, Australia's leading workforce management company. Previously, he was Vice President/GM of Product at CBS Interactive in New York, and General Manager at Everyday Health, a digital health business which scaled from a high growth startup into a large, listed company on the New York Stock Exchange.

Deepesh holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in Canada, and an MBA from Fordham University in New York.

Diane Smith-Gander


Advisory Board Member

Diane is a Non-Executive Director of AGL Energy and Wesfarmers Limited, and Chair of Safe Work Australia. She is also a Board Member of Keystart Loans, CEDA and was the immediate Past President of Chief Executive Women. Diane previously held senior executive roles in banking, culminating in her appointment as the head of Westpac Banking Corporation's Business and Technology Solutions and Services Division. She was formerly a Partner at McKinsey & Company in the USA.

Diane holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Western Australia and an MBA from the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

John Atkin


Advisory Board Member

John is a Director of IPH Limited and Integral Diagnostics Limited. He serves as Chairman of the Australian Outward Bound Foundation and is a Board member of the State Library of New South Wales Foundation. He was formerly the Chairman of GPT Metro Office Fund. John's 25-year career as a Mergers & Acquisitions lawyer culminated in his appointment as Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of leading Australiasian law firm Blake Dawson (now Ashurst). He later served as Chief Executive Officer of The Trust Company.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from The Australian National University and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney. He has completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. 

Charles Sitch


Advisory Board Member

Charles is a Director of Spark New Zealand Limited and Apiam Animal Health Limited. He serves as Chairman of the Robin Boyd Foundation and is on the Board of Trinity College Melbourne and the Committee of the Melbourne Cricket Club. Previously, Charles spent 24 years as a Director of McKinsey & Company in New York, London and Melbourne, where he was a leader of the Retail, Consumer and Marketing practices. He is also a recipient of the President's Medal for services to the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria.

Charles holds a Bachelor of Law & Commerce from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Greg Keys


Advisory Board Member

Greg is a Director of WINconnect and SEDA Group, and is the Chairman of SEDA College Limited. He was formerly a partner at PwC for nearly 20 years, where he co-founded and led PwC’s Mergers & Acquisitions ("M&A") team nationally in Australia. Greg also operates an independent consulting business for a number of different clients, adding value via his strategic, commercial, financial and transactional skills, together with his wide ranging corporate networks.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from Melbourne Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

David Bortolussi

David is the Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Brands, a branded products and retail group comprising the Bonds, Sheridan, Tontine, Berlei and Dunlopillo brands. David has substantial experience in the consumer and retail sector, and functional expertise in strategy, finance, mergers and acquisitions and operational performance improvement.  Prior to Pacific Brands, David held senior executive and consulting roles at Foster’s Group Limited, McKinsey & Company and PwC.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
